Saudi Aramco said on November 1, 2026 that it has closed the transaction to acquire a 49% stake in HUMAIN, Saudi Arabia’s national artificial intelligence company, pairing one of the world’s largest energy producers with the Kingdom’s AI champion.
Aramco, through a wholly owned subsidiary, takes the minority stake while Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) retains 51% ownership, the companies announced. Aramco is transferring key AI assets to HUMAIN and will contribute approximately SAR 9.9 billion ($2.6 billion) in cash during 2026, in addition to AI, compute, and digital assets.
What was announced
The closing formalizes a non-binding term sheet that PIF and Aramco signed in October 2025 to combine their AI assets, capabilities, and talent under HUMAIN. As the two shareholders, PIF and Aramco say they will oversee HUMAIN’s expansion plans to “unlock new value creation opportunities in the AI sector.”
The transaction backs HUMAIN’s plan to deploy 3 gigawatts of AI data center capacity by 2030, part of its ambition to build a globally competitive, integrated AI ecosystem spanning data centers, high-performance compute, advanced models, applications, and industry solutions.

The deal in numbers
- 49% of HUMAIN acquired by Aramco through a wholly owned subsidiary; PIF retains 51%
- $2.6 billion (SAR 9.9 billion) in cash contributions from Aramco during 2026, plus AI, compute, and digital assets
- 3 gigawatts of planned AI data center capacity by 2030
- $11.3 billion in “Technology Realized Value” Aramco says it has achieved since 2023, with a significant portion from AI solutions

What HUMAIN is building
Launched in May 2025, HUMAIN is building full-stack AI capabilities across four areas, according to the announcement: next-generation data centers; hyper-performance infrastructure and cloud platforms; advanced AI models including ALLaM, described as one of the world’s most powerful multimodal Arabic large language models; and transformative AI solutions. Its stated aim is to become one of the leading exporters of AI globally.
Why it matters
The deal consolidates Saudi Arabia’s sovereign AI assets under a single national champion, giving HUMAIN both an industrial shareholder and a prospective in-house customer: Aramco says it will leverage HUMAIN’s infrastructure to push AI into industrial applications and monetize its existing AI and digital assets. PIF frames the move as aligned with its 2026-2030 strategy to deepen integration across economic ecosystems and grow national companies into global leaders.
“Bringing PIF and Aramco’s AI portfolio of investments together under HUMAIN creates a powerful synergy that fuels talent growth, technological advancement, and intellectual property creation,” said Yazeed A. Al-Humied, PIF’s Deputy Governor and Head of MENA Investments.
“The HUMAIN deal is very important to Aramco, building on the company’s long track record of innovation and technology,” said Amin H. Nasser, Aramco’s President and CEO. “AI will therefore play a vital role in the future of business.”
The closing lands as Gulf states race to convert energy wealth into AI infrastructure, with HUMAIN competing for regional and global AI compute demand against projects across the United States, the UAE, and Europe.
