Oscar AI, branded as Oscar Stories, is a personalized bedtime-story app for families. Its official website describes AI-generated adventures in which children can become the main characters, with illustrations and audio versions. It is aimed at shared reading and listening, rather than general business automation.

What is Oscar Stories?

Oscar builds a story around choices such as the setting, characters and plot. According to the official FAQ, parents can include family members or friends and save profiles for later stories. This gives caregivers a more guided starting point than writing an open-ended story prompt from scratch.

The service is designed for personal storytelling. Its educational themes may support conversations about values, but generated fiction should not be treated as a verified teaching resource or a substitute for adult judgment.

Main features

  • Personalized characters: choose characters and professions to make the child part of the adventure.
  • Illustrated stories: pictures accompany the narrative and provide another way to engage with the story.
  • AI audio narration: turn a personalized story into a listening experience. This is AI-generated audio; it should not be described as a professional human performance.
  • Classic-story settings: the website highlights adventures inspired by familiar worlds such as Alice in Wonderland and The Jungle Book.
  • Values-based themes: suggested topics include kindness, honesty, courage and empathy.
  • Story videos on iOS: the current App Store description also advertises videos based on the stories. Feature availability may differ across devices and versions.

How to use it thoughtfully

  1. Open the app and choose a setting or theme that suits the child’s interests.
  2. Add the characters needed for the story. Consider using a nickname or fictional profile instead of unnecessary identifying details.
  3. Generate the story, then have an adult read it before sharing it with the child.
  4. Read together or use the audio option, and discuss anything confusing, frightening or factually doubtful.

This is a suggested review workflow, not a report of hands-on testing. AI output can vary, and an age label or a child-friendly marketing claim does not guarantee that every generated story will suit every child.

Who is it best suited to?

Parents, grandparents and caregivers looking for a fresh shared-reading prompt are the clearest audience. A familiar character or a personalized adventure can be a starting point for conversation during bedtime or a quiet listening session. Teachers considering classroom use should first check the generated material, the school’s policies and any account or sharing requirements.

For language practice, confirm the story and narration languages inside the app before subscribing. The website is localized in multiple languages, while the U.S. App Store information lists English; these are not identical measures of language support.

Pricing and free access

Checked October 19, 2026: Oscar’s FAQ says the first stories are free and describes paying per story afterward. The U.S. App Store listing instead shows premium subscription options: US$4.99 monthly and US$39.99 annually, alongside coin purchases.

Because these public descriptions differ, check the current in-app purchase screen for the story allowance, whether coins are charged separately, renewal terms and local currency. A free download does not establish unlimited free generation, and we did not verify an unlimited paid plan.

Apps and privacy considerations

Listings are available for iPhone and iPad and Android. The FAQ describes using the same account across devices. We did not verify a browser-based story-generation app, so the website should not be taken as evidence of a full web editor.

Review the app’s current privacy information before entering a child’s details. As a practical precaution, leave out addresses, school names, health information and other details that are not needed for a fictional story.

Our assessment

Oscar Stories offers a focused concept: guided, personalized fiction with illustrated and audio formats. It is most useful to consider as a family storytelling aid. Check the actual purchase terms, language options and generated content before making it part of a regular routine.
