Backenly

Backenly is an autonomous backend platform for AI coding agents: your agent builds the backend over MCP, and Backenly keeps it healthy on its own. It launched on Product Hunt on October 31, 2026, and this post is based on its official website, checked on November 1, 2026.

What Backenly does

Your coding agent connects through a typed MCP server and builds tables, auth, policies, and realtime on real infrastructure: one isolated PostgreSQL schema per project, PostgREST serving every table with filters and OpenAPI, sign-up and OAuth with per-project secrets, file storage with expiring signed URLs, realtime over SSE, and functions with triggers, webhooks, and rate limits. Row-level security is written from plain descriptions: say who can read and write what, and Backenly writes and enforces the Postgres policies.

The autonomy is the point. A self-healing loop checks the backend every minute, fixing what it can verify and roll back, while destructive operations like dropping a table or revoking a key park as approval requests under a “Waiting on you” queue, with the impact laid out, and wait for a person to decide. When a table starts doing two jobs, Backenly proposes separating it once you approve, and both old and new code keep working with undo available.

Open source and portability

The entire platform is open source under Apache-2.0, including the autonomy engine, and the SDK, CLI, MCP server, and agent skill are MIT. You can self-host on your own Postgres or use Backenly Cloud, which runs in five regions across three continents. Every plan includes direct connection strings and pg_dump exports, so everything leaves with you anytime.

Who it is for

Backenly is built for developers and teams whose coding agents now write the backend: indie hackers shipping with Claude Code or Cursor, startups that want production Postgres without operating it, and teams that need agent-built infrastructure with human approval gates on destructive change.

Pricing

Self-hosting is free under Apache-2.0. On Backenly Cloud, the Free plan is genuinely free with no credit card and includes the self-healing loop every minute. Pro is $25/month and raises capacity; Enterprise is custom. Prices may change, so check the official website for the latest pricing: https://backenly.com/.
