| Overview | Vertex AI is the former platform name used by Google Cloud for managed AI and machine-learning development, deployment and scaling. Google’s current documentation maps Vertex AI Platform to Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform. The platform continues to include managed training, inference, MLOps, AutoML and model access; this is a naming transition, not evidence that those capabilities have disappeared. |

Pricing remains usage-based and varies by service, model, compute resources, storage, training and prediction workload. Use the current platform pricing page and relevant model-specific rates; this is not one flat subscription. Limited free access is available, but not an unlimited permanent free tier for the whole platform. Eligible new users can try a curated set of APIs in express mode for up to 90 days within quotas, without billing details. The separate Google Cloud Free Trial provides $300 credit for 90 days and requires a payment method. Enabling billing changes eligibility and charges; confirm the offer for your account. |

Choosing a workflow: Start with the task—training a model, running inference, building an agent or managing an ML pipeline—then check its current product name, region, quota and pricing unit. Model outputs still need validation. The old Vertex AI name remains useful for finding earlier documentation, but model availability and terms are service-specific.

Image context: The existing Google Cloud screenshot shows an earlier Vertex AI page, including a Gemini 2.0 Flash banner, a 160+ models claim and a $300 credit offer. Its capture date is unknown; those interface and catalog details are historical, and any current trial remains subject to the eligibility described above.
