Plango: Local AI Security for Your Mac and Coding Agents

Visit website

Plango is a local AI security app for Mac that keeps coding agents away from SSH keys and .env files, blocks data leaks, and…

Plango launched on Product Hunt on October 22, 2026, built by co-founders Fred and Rich: a native macOS security suite for developers who work with AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor and Codex. AI coding agents can read code, run commands, install packages, access files and reach the internet, which makes them powerful and, from a security view, worrying. Plango puts a local AI security model between those agents and the parts of your machine they should not touch.

The idea is simple, in the makers’ own words: “Give agents the freedom to build, not to destroy.”

What Plango does

  • Control agent access: restrict access to sensitive files, SSH keys, .env files, or files marked with specific Finder color tags.
  • Stop data exfiltration: monitor network activity, set block and allow lists, and control where apps and agents can communicate.
  • Protect your secrets: move environment secrets out of plain-text files and into the macOS Keychain.
  • Scan skills and plugins: check agent skills and plugins for suspicious behavior, including hidden instructions and hooks.
  • Find vulnerabilities: scan projects across your Mac for libraries with known security issues.
  • Audit your Mac: review app permissions, privacy settings, startup items and extensions.
  • Ask your security AI: investigate findings with a built-in assistant that runs locally, or bring another local agent or your own API key.
  • See everything: a dashboard of security events, requests, decisions and blocked activity, with custom rules.

Who it is for

Plango targets developers using AI coding agents daily on a Mac, especially anyone who has given Claude Code, Cursor or Codex broad access to their machine and wants oversight over what those agents read, change and send.

Requirements

Plango needs a Mac with Apple silicon (M1, M2, M3 or M4), macOS 15 or newer, and at least 16 GB of memory, according to the official site.

Pricing

$4.99 per month, with a 7-day free trial that needs no card and never turns into a paid plan on its own. The subscription renews monthly until cancelled, and can be cancelled at any time from the account page. Pricing may change, so check installplango.com for current terms.
