ElevenLabs AI Voice Generator helps creators turn scripts into spoken audio for videos, podcasts, narration and other audio projects. Its wider platform includes dubbing, transcription, voice design and audio tools. This guide separates creative subscriptions from developer and agent billing, and explains the checks to make before publishing a voiceover.

What can you create?
- Scripted speech: Create narration and dialogue, choosing a voice and a model suited to the project. ElevenLabs advertises Eleven v4 with support for more than 90 languages and also offers v4 Turbo. Coverage and controls vary by model.
- Custom voices: Use Voice Design or an eligible voice-cloning feature, with the required permissions and verification.
- Audio workflows: The platform offers dubbing, Scribe transcription, sound effects, voice changing and voice isolation. Check each tool’s availability and usage charges.
- Voice agents: Build conversational experiences through ElevenAgents. Agent calls have separate metering considerations.
For a production project, test pronunciation, pacing and consistency in the intended language before committing to a long script. An expressive model can still require editing, pronunciation adjustments and human review.
Cloning and consent
Instant Voice Cloning typically uses one to two minutes of clean audio. You must confirm that you have the rights and consent to clone the voice. Clear recordings matter more than a promise of results from a few seconds.
Professional Voice Cloning requires verification of your own voice and substantially more recording material. You cannot directly create a professional clone of someone else’s voice, even with their consent. Allow time for processing and review the result before use.
Creative plan prices
ElevenCreative monthly list prices, in USD before taxes:
- Free: $0; 10,000 credits
- Starter: $6; 30,000 credits
- Creator: $22; 121,000 credits
- Pro: $99; 600,000 credits
- Scale: $299; 1.8 million credits
- Business: $990; 6 million credits
- Enterprise: custom pricing
Credits are shared across creative tools; consumption varies. Cloning starts with Starter for Instant and Creator for Professional. Annual commitments and introductory offers differ from these recurring monthly prices.
The billing guide describes USD charging outside India, with INR available for eligible Indian checkout. Check the currency, taxes and renewal amount before subscribing. Additional usage on new self-serve subscriptions uses Pay As You Go; older subscriptions may have different arrangements.
API and agent costs
Use the dedicated ElevenAPI pricing for developer projects: rates depend on the product and model. Do not treat the Creative credit allowance as a universal API-minute allowance.
ElevenAgents pricing uses call-minute allowances. LLM use and an external phone provider can add costs. Estimate the complete workflow rather than comparing subscription prices alone.
Can you publish commercially?
According to ElevenLabs’ publishing guidance, Free output is non-commercial and requires attribution when shared. Eligible output made during a paid subscription retains commercial permission after cancellation. Upgrading does not retroactively license Free output. You still need the underlying rights and must follow applicable law and terms. Beta Services are excluded from commercial and production use.
Privacy before uploading
Review the privacy policy before supplying recordings or confidential scripts. Model-training opt-out is available under Terms and Privacy, then Data use. It applies prospectively; it does not undo past training use or replace a deletion request.
A voiceover planning example
Imagine a fictional ceramics studio preparing a 45-second product video. Before generating audio, its creator could:
- Write a short script using only approved product claims.
- Select a suitable licensed voice, or arrange the required own-voice cloning verification.
- Check that the intended model and subscription permit the planned commercial use when the final audio is generated.
- Budget for pronunciation revisions, then review the final recording against the script.
This is a planning example, not generated audio or a hands-on performance test.
Where is it available?
ElevenLabs offers browser tools, developer APIs and iOS and Android creation apps. Feature availability can differ by interface. Choose the workflow that fits your project, then check its current pricing and permissions.
