Unriddle is now Anara. If you arrived here looking for the research assistant under its old name, the current product is available at anara.com. This guide explains the rebrand, what the service now offers and how to evaluate it without relying on outdated extension listings.

What happened to Unriddle?

Anara announced the name change on March 24, 2025. Its official rebrand notice says the branding, domain and support address changed, and that existing Unriddle subscriptions would move automatically. That statement describes the transition at the time; we have not tested an individual legacy account. Existing customers with access or billing questions should contact Anara support rather than assume they need a second subscription.

What does Anara do today?

Anara presents itself as a research workspace for finding literature, working with a collection of sources and producing cited writing. Its current product overview describes these workflows:

  • Discover papers: search academic literature and narrow results using research-oriented filters.
  • Build a source library: organize imported materials into folders and return to them for later questions.
  • Ask across documents: focus questions on a file, folder or library, then follow passage-level references to inspect the evidence.
  • Compare and extract: turn recurring questions across a folder into a cited table, useful for comparing how papers describe methods or results.
  • Write with references: draft notes with citation support and export research work.

These are documented capabilities, not findings from our own accuracy benchmark. A citation makes an answer easier to check; it does not establish that the interpretation is correct or that the selected evidence is complete.

A practical way to evaluate it

Suppose you are comparing several open-access papers about battery recycling. Start with a small set you have permission to upload rather than a confidential project archive.

  1. Define one question. For example: “Which recycling method does each paper examine, and what limitation do its authors report?”
  2. Keep the source set explicit. Ask for answers from the selected files, so you can see whether the output is based on your collection.
  3. Request comparable fields. Use the same headings for each paper: method, experimental conditions, result and stated limitation.
  4. Open the evidence. Read each referenced passage, including surrounding sentences. Mark missing information as missing instead of asking the AI to fill gaps.
  5. Check your synthesis. Different experimental conditions can make results incomparable. Resolve those differences before repeating a conclusion in your own work.

This is an illustrative evaluation exercise, not a test we performed. It gives you a concrete basis for deciding whether the workflow helps with your material.

Current pricing and usage limits

The official pricing FAQ lists these US-dollar prices per seat. Annual figures below are monthly equivalents with yearly billing; the annual totals are calculated as twelve times that rate.

Plan Monthly billing Annual billing equivalent
Free $0 $0
Plus $10/month $8/month; $96/year
Pro $20/month $16/month; $192/year
Max 5x $100/month $80/month; $960/year
Max 20x $200/month $160/month; $1,920/year
Enterprise Custom quote

Free has limited daily usage and uploads up to 20 MB or 120 pages. Paid allowances reset weekly; higher plans increase usage and unlock additional features. Paid users can purchase extra credits, so a subscription is not a promise of unlimited AI requests. Check the live billing selection, applicable taxes, plan limits and final checkout total before paying. We did not complete a purchase.

Is it only a browser extension?

No. The current official site lists a web app, Mac, iPhone and iPad access, and a Microsoft Word integration. It is therefore broader than a Chrome-extension-only workflow. Use the provider’s current site to find supported download links; we have not verified the continued availability of the old Unriddle extension.

Who should consider it, and what should they check?

It may suit students, researchers and knowledge workers who repeatedly compare a defined set of documents. If you only need a quick summary of one short article, first consider whether a separate research workspace adds enough value for your needs.

Before uploading unpublished, client-owned or personal material, check your permission to share it and your organization’s requirements. Review the provider’s current privacy and security information rather than treating a research label as automatic approval for sensitive data. For published work, independently verify references, quotations and conclusions, and follow your institution’s AI-disclosure rules.

Review scope and further reading

This is an editorial update based on Anara’s public product information, pricing and rebrand announcement, checked on October 15, 2026. We did not test account migration, app installation, output quality or paid checkout. Pricing and features can change; use the linked official pages to confirm the details relevant to your decision.
