Updated October 18, 2026. Straico was a multi-model AI workspace for writing, research and multimedia creation. Straico’s official shutdown announcement gives July 22, 2026 as its service-end date, covering the web app, desktop app and API. This page now serves as a historical overview and transition guide rather than a recommendation to subscribe. Read the official shutdown announcement.

Source-access note: this update uses an indexed copy of Straico’s official shutdown announcement. The live announcement page returned a 502 error during our October 18, 2026 browser check; that access failure is not the evidence for the closure date.
What was Straico?
Straico brought several AI providers into a single interface and subscription. Its published feature list included side-by-side model responses, reusable prompt templates, Smart Merge, file and webpage questions, image and video generation, and API access. Its usage system combined a subscription with model-dependent coin consumption. These describe the former product, not services currently verified as available. Historical feature and pricing page.
The appeal was a common workspace for tasks that might otherwise require several interfaces. A writer could compare alternative drafts; a researcher could question source documents; a developer could connect an automation to the API. Those use cases remain relevant when choosing another service, but a replacement needs its own assessment of model access, limits and data handling.
Shutdown, billing and saved data
According to the closure notice, recurring plans were to be canceled with prorated refunds for unused paid time; lifetime licenses and purchased coin packs were excluded from refunds. The company expected recurring-plan refunds by August 30, 2026. That was its announced schedule, not confirmation that a particular customer’s refund arrived.
Straico also stated that user data would be deleted after closure and would not remain recoverable. Its backup deadline has passed. Look for copies you previously downloaded rather than assuming the old export instructions still work. The notice lists [email protected] for individual questions; a response is not guaranteed. Closure and customer-information notice.
Old subscription prices, model lists and free-coin allowances should not be treated as current offers. Likewise, an old desktop installer is not evidence of a working offline replacement. Avoid paying a third party to “restore” an account or entering credentials on an unofficial recovery page.
Example: move a recurring writing workflow
Here is a hypothetical migration plan for someone who previously used Straico to turn product briefs into customer FAQs. It is an editorial example, not a migration we performed:
- Find the material you already own. Gather locally saved briefs, prompt templates and approved FAQ documents. Separate source facts from AI suggestions so an unsupported answer does not become the starting point for the next system.
- Write down the actual requirements. For example: read a small document, preserve product names, answer five questions and return a consistent format. Decide whether you really need several models or one well-tested model for this task.
- Create a safe comparison sample. Replace client names and confidential details with fictional examples. Ask each candidate service the same questions, then check factual support, missing information and editing effort.
- Check the full cost. Compare the billing period, usage unit, file limits, API availability and extra charges. A word allowance, a token budget and a credit pack are not interchangeable measures.
- Rebuild integrations cautiously. For an automated workflow, verify authentication, request fields, output parsing, error handling and spending controls. Do not assume a different provider is a drop-in replacement merely because it offers similar models.
- Keep portable records. Save approved outputs and reusable instructions in a format you can open independently. Schedule exports that match the importance of the work rather than relying entirely on any vendor’s chat history.
How to compare alternatives
Start with the task you need to finish: comparing drafts, reading documents, generating an image or running an API workflow. Test a small representative example before committing to a long billing period. For sensitive work, review the new provider’s retention, training and sharing terms before uploading anything.
Browse the AI Assistant directory for possible starting points. A directory listing is not proof of current availability or suitability; confirm the shortlisted provider’s own terms and pricing. This update is based on public sources, with no account access, paid testing or refund verification.
