Cowboy emerged from stealth on November 4, 2026, billing itself as the app store for AI: a place to deploy, hire and sell AI agents, with a “General Store” that opened the same day with more than 100 agents and 10,000 data feeds, according to the company’s Business Wire launch announcement.

What it does

Cowboy’s units are called Actors: agents with their own wallet, schedule and files. In the General Store you can hire curated actors or data feeds for monthly subscriptions, per-use pricing or one-time purchases. Developers build and list actors from Claude Code or Codex through a CLI, and monetize them the same way.

The company puts heavy emphasis on trust. Its “Marshal” privacy model promises code review of agents, private sandboxes and encrypted files, which matters if agents are going to hold your credentials and act on your behalf. Cowchat, the chat interface, is open source.

Key features

  • General Store: 100+ curated AI actors and 10,000 data feeds for hire
  • Actors with their own wallet, schedule and files
  • Build and sell from Claude Code or Codex via CLI
  • Monetization as monthly hires, per-use or one-time purchases
  • Marshal privacy model: code review, private sandbox, encrypted files
  • Open-source Cowchat client

Who it is for

Two audiences: people who want to hire ready-made agents for recurring work, and developers who want a storefront for the agents they build. If you have been wiring agents together by hand, Cowboy offers the distribution and payments layer in one place.

One honest caveat, visible on the official site as of November 5, 2026: the hero call to action reads “Request an invite,” which sits uneasily next to the launch announcement’s “available now.” Some paths into the product may still be invite-gated even as the General Store is open.
